If you live in Denver, or know anyone who does, the big buzz around town is the opening of the “Train to the Plane”! Being raised in Denver, I never thought I’d see the day that our “laid back” city would be built up and ranked with the BIG cities of the world (Chicago, LA, Paris). There is now a train that goes from the heart of downtown to Denver International Airport – and it only takes 37 minutes and $9 dollars! That’s insane! But as a marketer, I can’t help but wonder if all the transportation competition is as excited as I am! Hello the days of Train, Goodbye the days of bus, taxi, Uber, and Lyft? The Denver Post released an article prior to the LightRail grand opening addressing the impact the train will have on these businesses that have heavily relied on people needing to get to the airport. Either way you look at it, the train is the way of the future and marketing is flexible. The competition will just need to find a new way of marketing their business. Their market isn’t changing – but their way of service definitely is.
