Hyatt Regency Walkway Collapse

It is hard to imagine such failures occurring when you have multiple standards to meet. Ever since I started as an intern here at Calibre I have observed rigorous attention to detail and tenacious communication between parties involved in projects. I had the opportunity to present on the unfortunate event of a walkway collapse at The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. This hotel project had many flaws but there was one flaw that stuck out to me due to the integrity of the structure and the lack of communication between parties. Connections and materials should never be compromised at any cost, and that is exactly what happened at the Hyatt Regency walkaway collapse. Attached is the study done by myself, and 3 of my classmates at the University of Colorado Denver ( Kyle Frost, Dario Diaz, and Sergio Elias), which illustrates the project and it's mistakes that resulted in the collapse.
